Welcome to the Participation Committee for this sailing season. The maintenance of the building and grounds are necessities in order to make WSA run efficiently. New members are first asked to serve in this capacity, followed by present members (selected in rotation), while Officers and those already on other Committees are exempt. Members are selected from the current Membership List, as of the date that dues must be paid. Anyone joining later in the season will be first on next year’s list. Normally, it is about three years before you would be asked again.
Please check the date that you have been assigned, and please email me this week that either (1) your assigned date will work for you, or (2) you have called to arrange a switch with someone else on the list. It is your responsibility to arrange this switch, to allow for your convenience and unforeseen events, but it ultimately remains your responsibility to cover the detail, one way or another. (WSA rules state that any member who is assigned cleaning and does not fulfill their obligation will be fined $25. A second offence is automatic expulsion from The Association.) We know this seems severe, but there have been a few occasions where members don’t feel this responsibility. Fortunately, this hasn’t often been a problem, as our members traditionally respect fellow sailors, and the Association that we share, and follow through and do the best job that we can.
The cleaning detail should be done by noon on Saturday.
This ensures that The
Anchorage and grounds will look their best by the peak of each weekend.
When
you’re through, please remember to sign next to your name on the sheet posted
on the bulletin board, certifying that you completed the listed tasks.
Depending upon the amount of
weeds washed ashore, usually this duty will probably take about two to three
hours.
The tasks are twofold:
1) cleaning of the Anchorage (the building)
2) cleaning of the patio, deck, and waterfront
You should find the equipment
you need on the premises.
The vacuum cleaner is in the ladies room, dustpan
& brush in the kitchen, and cleaning supplies under the sinks.
Rakes and
the wheelbarrow are in the tool shed.
Trash should be bagged and sealed. (See attached list for
specific details for disposal of trash, and leaves and weeds.)
We sincerely thank you for your time and energy in helping to make WSA a clean, beautiful and enjoyable recreational facility for all of our families.
HAPPY SAILING!
Respectfully yours,
Donna

As we all know, it is every
members duty to clean up any little messes that we might make while at the
Anchorage. To insure that the grounds and the clubhouse are kept clean for
everyone, each weekend one member is assigned to a general cleaning which
involves vacuuming the rug, cleaning the "Powder Rooms", kitchen sink,
decks, tables and chairs, and raking up the beach area.
This assignment can be done anytime from Friday morning until Saturday noon
time. The membership would like to thank those of you that participate this year
for your effort to make our club a beautiful place to spend some time.
